During a night in meditation in Iona Abbey, a journey into the deep heart of Iona, hearing and playing the song from that place. The result a 50 min piece of music on solo Viola.
In 1999 I did a (self made) retreat on Iona. walking on the land; sitting, gazing, lying on the ground, watching the waves, writing poetry. Several times I walked past the Abbey, it kept calling me. I went and sat in it; it was good. The call and the song of the stones of the Abbey walls got louder. I went and asked someone if I could spend the night there on my own - someone asked someone else.
Later that evening I arrived back at the Abbey, and was locked in for the night. I sat an meditated until the early hours of the morning. Then, just before dawn, I started playing. Sound emerged as a prayer and meditation out of the depth, beauty and stillness, which touched me deeply in Iona.
